Exhibition: Environments and Humans
In the face of the current climate emergency, whose human origin is established, humanity must act without delay. Yet history shows that humans have adapted to much more radical upheavals, such as ice ages or past warmings. Archaeology reveals how ancient societies managed their resources and overcame environmental constraints, sometimes making profound changes during major crises. This exhibition presents six striking examples of this complex relationship between humans and their environment: the end of the ice age, the emergence of agriculture, forest exploitation, and the management of floodplains. Each of these episodes had unexpected consequences, offering valuable lessons for today. Through twelve panels, it invites the public, especially younger generations, to take a step back, foster new imagination, and view contemporary environmental challenges with fresh eyes. To deepen the experience, a visit to the Museum, particularly its prehistoric section, or educational workshops (atlatl throwing, fire archaeology) can complement the visit.
