Concert - Petite Messe solennelle
The "Petite Messe solennelle" is one of the last great works by Gioacchino Rossini.
Composed in 1863 for harmonium, piano, and choir, it was later orchestrated by the composer himself, maintaining an intimate spirituality close to chamber music.
This version presented here highlights a choir, four soloists, and an orchestra.
The performers are Nathalie Gaudefroy (soprano), Marlène Lichtenberg (alto), Markus Francke (tenor), and Clemens Morgenthaler (bass). The Ensemble Koinonia Wien, Collegium Vocale Strasbourg-Ortenau, and Singakademie Ortenau join the orchestra Musiciens sans frontières Alsace-Ortenau for this performance. Olaf Fütterer conducts the musical direction.
