Gourmet Christmas at the Maison du Pain d'Alsace
Immerse yourself in the gourmet and traditional world of Christmas at the Maison du Pain d’Alsace. Between the museum, bakery, and tea room, this experience introduces you to Alsatian specialties such as the puff pastry Christmas tree, gingerbread, schnitzlaïwel, and christolle. Watch artisan bakers at work and admire nearly 35 varieties of bredele baked on-site, while enjoying the enchanting aromas of these seasonal treats.
The museum, housed in the old oven of the bakers' guild dating back to 1522, traces the history of bread and Alsatian festive traditions. A sensory visit and a family mystery about Christmas legends are offered, focusing on the importance of indulgence in celebrations and the origin of the Christmas tree in Sélestat.
To extend the pleasure, a tea room completes the experience.
In December, like an Advent calendar, a specialty is highlighted each day at 10:30 and 11:30 AM, with tastings available. The specialty for December 25th is offered free with any order placed on the 24th, while supplies last.
Hours are adjusted for the holidays: open from 8 AM to 2 PM on December 24th, from 9 AM to 2 PM on December 31st, and closed on December 25th and 26th.
