Noëlies: Nativity Scene Trail
Inspired by the first nativity scene of Saint Francis of Assisi in 1223, the monumental nativity scene of Sélestat was created in 1934 by Léopold Holler OFM.
Made with the help of the Friends of the Convent and former altar boys, it covers about 45 m² on the ground and reaches a height of 6 to 8 meters.
This static work, faithful to the Franciscan spirit, is displayed every year from Christmas to February.
It enchants young and old alike, who find a part of their childhood in it, while enjoying a reputation far beyond the region.
It is part of the Noëlies nativity scenes, an iconic Christmas tradition trail.
To discover it, the Missionary Family of Our Lady offers guided tours on request, by ringing the entrance or contacting selestat@fmnd.org.
