Gesticulated Conference
In November 2018, as the Yellow Vests movement was emerging, Marguerite, 68 years old, was preparing a gesticulated conference on a question that had long concerned her: are screens, especially television, tools of manipulation? For her generation, the screen marked a turning point in the consumption of information and images.
The Yellow Vests, often mistreated by the media—both private and public—revealed, thanks to social networks and increasingly advanced technological tools, who really owns the private channels. This awareness coincided with an exponential increase in screens, raising questions about their purpose: who do they really serve and what do they function for?
This protest movement confirmed one thing: we are indeed being manipulated. Marguerite offers you here her updated gesticulated conference.
Armed with her barrel organ, she tells you, through her life story, the history of what has been called "the big screen."
A narrative that highlights the proliferation of these tools, which have become so omnipresent that they exclude us from the world if we do not have access to them.
How did we get here? What societal issues accompany this invasion of screens? And above all, how can we free ourselves from them?
These are the questions Marguerite addresses with her energy and humor, inviting everyone to reflect on our relationship with these objects that shape our daily lives.
