4026 Eternal Toys?
In June 2025, a pair of researchers uncovered three time capsules in exceptional condition. There were no signs of corrosion or wear to date these objects, and an inscription engraved on their surface, "4026," remained the only tangible clue. Upon opening, they extracted twelve objects that were both familiar and puzzling, which were immediately preserved, documented, and subjected to thorough analysis. The research revealed a surprising hypothesis: these artifacts do not come from the past, but from the future. Even more surprising, they are toys—everyday childhood objects that, by their presence, challenge temporal certainties.
The exhibition offers a narrative dive into this mystery through an original staging. Twelve major families of toys are presented in triptychs, pairing an object from the past, one from the present, and one from the future.
This comparison is not intended to predict the future of toys but to explore what their evolution reveals about human societies: their relationship to material, industry, intimacy, and emotion. By examining iconic objects such as comfort blankets, playing cards, construction toys, and spinning tops, the exhibition invites visitors to rethink their function, use, and meaning over time. This dialogue between eras questions our perception of play and toys while opening perspectives on their role in our lives.
