AJAM - Krzysztof Michalski
In the heart of winter, AJAM dedicates its concerts to the cello and its enchanting sound. Krzysztof Michalski, a virtuoso of the instrument and winner of the 2026 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium, performs on this occasion. The program features three major solo cello works, offering a journey through iconic and demanding pieces.
Behind Krzysztof Michalski's career lies a decisive encounter with the cello, an instrument that has shaped his life and career. His interpretation is based on essential composers: Bach, whose cello suites have elevated the instrument to a benchmark, followed by Penderecki, a master of modern technique, and finally Cassadó, whose rare and virtuosic pieces conclude this recital.
A rising star of the cello, Krzysztof Michalski already distinguished himself in 2024 at the ARD Competition in Munich and in May 2026 at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium. His talent has also led him to perform on the world's greatest stages and international festivals. He has also recorded a first album in duo with Alexandra Bidi, principal harpist of the Orchestre de Paris.
