Saint Nicholas Passage at Cathedral Square

On December 6th, young and old gather to celebrate Saint Nicholas, an iconic figure dressed in a long red or purple cloak, wearing his mitre and holding his crozier.

According to tradition, he rewards the most deserving children for their good behavior.

Saint Nicholas of Myra, protector of children, widows, the weak, and prisoners, is surrounded by many legends and miracles. Among them is the story of how he neutralized the fearsome Hans Trapp, putting an end to his misdeeds and strengthening his reputation as a protector.
