Dance: Heyoka - The World Upside Down
In many cultures, the reasons to dance are varied: Dionysian festivals, macabre dances, nocturnal trances, or tarantellas. Carnival is part of this tradition, and it is in this spirit that Heyoka invites you to be swept away by the carnival fever in Mulhouse. This participatory project, led by Nathalie Pernette, explores the connections between music, dance, cross-dressing, rites, and rituals to offer a festive and liberating escape.
Heyoka highlights the essential role of dance in our lives, emphasizing its spiritual dimension, its roots in nature, and its visceral connection to life. A troupe of professional dancers will be joined by collaborators who have prepared costumes, masks, and choreographies to fully engage in this unique moment. Carnival, a time of mockery, inversion, and permitted revolt, is launched to dispel fears and celebrate madness. Between repeated refrains, chanted poems, danced verses, and psalmodies, the procession promises all participants an immersion in a bubble of danced intoxication.
