Exhibition: Electricity on Display, 150 Years of Creations

How to make the invisible visible? This is the central question of the exhibition "Electricity on Display," presented at the Electropolis Museum. Through a carefully selected collection of original posters, rarely exhibited due to their fragility, dive into the history of electricity's representation since the late 19th century. Renowned artists such as Paul Colin, Bernard Villemot, Lefor Openo, and Jean Effel shaped the image of this energy as a symbol of progress, comfort, and modernity. The exhibition also brings together drawings, films, games, mascots, and advertising objects from the museum's collections, offering a comprehensive overview of this fascinating graphic journey. Organized around major themes – the home, education, domestic uses, the role of women, and the environment – it shows how electrical advertising accompanied societal transformations and our relationship with energy. This exceptional exhibition is part of the 80th anniversary of the EDF group, a historic partner of the museum, and highlights a graphic heritage as rich as it is little known.
