Theater: Have You Ever Said I Love You?
Between testimony and fantasy, this show lightly addresses the issues surrounding first teenage loves.
It explores sexism, the weight of stereotypes and social pressures, as well as the influence of images on these budding relationships. The scenography draws inspiration from cabaret codes, blending humor and reflection without ever becoming moralistic or proselytizing.
Jean-François Auguste invites the audience to question the roles young lovers try to embody in their relationships. Based on intimate experiences of teenagers, discussions with specialists, and feedback from parents, the dramaturgy combines theater, dance, songs, and artist performances.
Themes of freedom, self-determination, and self-assertion intersect with stereotypes and clichés.
This show reminds us that our love lives are shaped not only by our emotions or thoughts but also by our social environment, near or far. By revisiting cabaret codes, it plays with reality, exaggerates traits, and twists the false to reveal the real in all its complexity.
