Theater: Mathieu in the Middle
At seven years old, Mathieu's life is turned upside down by the arrival of his little brother.
Before, everything smiled upon him: his older brother Elio and his mother lived only for him.
Since then, nothing has been the same. This fable, both funny and touching, is the result of a new collaboration between author Antonio Carmona and director Olivier Letellier, an artist associated with La Filature, Scène nationale. It sensitively addresses sibling jealousy but goes further by questioning our relationship with others, the world, and foreigners.
This reflection is evident in the language and accent of Adalberto Fernandez-Torres, a contortionist circus artist who shares the stage with actor Jérôme Fauvel. He plays most of the secondary roles, bringing a visual and poetic dimension to the show.
Olivier Letellier's direction operates on multiple levels, blending humor and lightness without ever diluting the themes addressed.
Telling this story from a child's perspective allows it to reach a young audience while offering moments of laughter and an almost fantastical stage where fear mingles with wonder before reason is restored.
