Georges Ratkoff Exhibition at the Christmas Market: A Warm Alsatian Winter
This outdoor exhibition showcases about thirty large drawings by watercolorist Georges Ratkoff, whose talent is expressed through over 1500 works.
The large-format reproductions invite visitors to immerse themselves in the artist's world, marked by his love for a happy and authentic Alsace. The scenes of life, populated by characters in traditional costume, evoke moments of joy, sharing, and tradition, such as Alsatian festivals or evenings in the Stube, the warm heart of the home where symbols and a cozy atmosphere blend.
Georges Ratkoff skillfully captures the spirit of the celebrations, especially those in December, and the magical atmosphere of the Alsatian winter, between festivities and mystery. The thirty selected paintings celebrate the authenticity of Alsatian Christmas, featuring iconic figures like the Christkindel or Saint Nicholas, the preparation of bredalas, and the conviviality of family moments.
The snowy landscapes of the Alsatian mountains complete this festive evocation.
To make the visit even more playful, a specially designed activity booklet is available, allowing visitors to discover Ratkoff's work with family or friends. The exhibition also offers the opportunity to meet the artist during signing sessions at the Christmas market or to immerse oneself in the warm festive atmosphere through storytelling evenings hosted by storyteller-historian Gérard Leser.
