Martin Eden - Compli'Cité Festival

Jack London wrote "Martin Eden," one of the great novels about class struggle, blending an impossible love story with a quest for social emancipation. The plot follows a young sailor from Oakland's poor neighborhoods, in love with a young woman from the bourgeoisie.

To win her over, he embarks on a consuming ambition: to become a writer, dedicating his entire life to this ideal.

This timeless work, reflecting on inequality and perseverance, is adapted into a musical theatre narrative by the company L'Armoise commune. Under the artistic direction of Paul Schirck, this production combines narration, acting, and music to bring this literary classic to life. The play is suitable for ages 13 and up and runs for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
