Rites and Beliefs of All Saints' Day in Alsace

Photo: S. Meyer

On the occasion of All Saints' Day, the Alsace Ecomuseum invites you to discover the rites and beliefs associated with this time of reflection.

Between traditional tales, superstitions, and folk stories, visitors are invited to explore funeral rituals and their cultural heritage through an immersive museum journey.

This experience, to be enjoyed with family or friends, takes place from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, November 1, in an atmosphere both mysterious and calming.

Several activities punctuate this program. Guided tours are organized at fixed times, covering topics such as the history of half-timbered houses, old trades, and rites and beliefs, while the Memory Attic offers dedicated time slots. Demonstrations complement the offer: cooking autumn vegetables, Totakepfdirlipse carving, or meetings with the blacksmith. Children and adults can also participate in games or storytelling sessions, such as "The Gravedigger's Anecdotes" or "The Game of the Forgotten," while discovering agricultural traditions with the feeding tour by cart or the farm visit. Some activities, marked with an asterisk, may contain sensitive elements.
