Conference "Secularism in Alsace, Its Particularities"
Alsace is distinguished by a unique form of secularism, shaped by its history and religious diversity. Unlike the rest of France, the 1905 separation laws are not applied in the same way here. This specificity, forged by centuries of coexistence among different faiths, has led to a differentiated approach to secularism.
Moreover, an active interfaith dialogue fosters better mutual understanding among communities. This dynamic allows Alsatians to gain deeper knowledge of the religions present in their region while maintaining regular exchanges.
A conference-debate will be organized to explore these issues in depth. It will provide an opportunity to learn about this Alsatian particularity and to ask questions about its current relevance and implications.
