Abbey Church of Saints Peter and Paul

In the heart of the town stands this church, consecrated by Pope Leo IX in 1049. It features remarkable Romanesque elements: an 11th-century crypt protected by a sandstone bear, as well as a 12th-century porch and a 30-meter-high sculpted frieze. These features make it the richest sculpted portal in Alsace. Inside, the Virgin, dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, and the pulpit, built in 1703, reflect the artistic evolution of the site. Guided tours for groups are organized year-round upon request.
