Agricultural Heritage Museum

In 1999, volunteers from the Allenwiller socio-cultural association launched a collection of old agricultural tools and machines. The volume quickly exceeded expectations, but the equipment, stored outdoors, was exposed to the elements.

To preserve this collection, the City of Allenwiller-Sommerau and the association joined forces between 2003 and 2005 to build a 1,200 m² hall specifically designed to display these historical pieces.

After more than ten years of work and collecting, the collection was finally unveiled to the public in August 2015. It now includes over 600 items, ranging from simple tools to a combine harvester, illustrating the local mixed farming of the past. The exhibition is organized by themes, with dedicated areas such as the blacksmith's workshop, the wheelwright's workshop, an old-fashioned kitchen, and a section devoted to logging.

Guides are present to explain how the machines work, their past uses, and to lead visitors through the exhibition.
