Albert Schweitzer House

Don't miss the rare opportunity to step inside the home of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In Gunsbach, Alsace, the house of Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) opens its doors to you. This extraordinary figure, a musician, philosopher, theologian, and doctor, left a mark on history through his humanism and commitment in Africa. His museum, expanded and modernized with an extension of over 400 m², invites reflection on the meaning of life through the lens of "Respect for Life," a philosophy he upheld throughout his life.

Gunsbach, the Alsatian village where Schweitzer spent much of his youth, deeply influenced his path.

It was here that he built his house in 1928, funded by the Goethe Prize from Frankfurt, turning this place into a haven of peace at the heart of his busy life. Today, this historic site offers an immersion into the world of a man whose optimism and determination inspired the entire world.
