Albert Schweitzer Park
Until 1926, the current Fecht and Albert Schweitzer parks were a single, large English-style landscaped garden. This harmonious estate belonged to the Hartmann family, an influential line of industrialists, politicians, and patrons deeply involved in local life.
To the right of the park's current entrance, a simple cellar window, still visible in the ground, is one of the few remnants of an imposing residence that once stood here.
This house, originally built by the royal provost of Munster, Mr. de Barth, was acquired in 1795 by André Hartmann, an ancestor of the family. It marked the history of the place until its disappearance before 1918, leaving behind only subtle traces, witnesses to a prestigious past.
