Altenberg Vineyard of Wolxheim

The Wolxheim vineyard, renowned for its famous Riesling, stretches between the hills and the vines. In addition to the Grand Cru Altenberg, it includes all Alsatian grape varieties and can be explored on foot via a marked wine trail. At the heart of this landscape, the Sacred Heart statue watches over the plots, while religious history is deeply rooted here. From the 10th century, the Bishopric of Strasbourg owned it, followed by the Abbey of Sainte-Odile in 1188, the Benedictines of Altorf in 1192, and then the Strasbourg hospital in 1320. Perched at the foot of the Horn rock, the vineyard benefits from exceptional exposure and a particularly dry microclimate, ideal for vine cultivation.
