André Hartmann Park
Created between 1866 and 1870 by Frédéric Hartmann in memory of his grandfather, this park in Munster is rich in history. To the north, the nursery school, opened in 1866, marks the beginning of its development.
To the east, a music and theater hall, funded by Madame Aimée Hartmann in 1892, hosted prestigious concerts until its destruction during the First World War. Nearby, the Grand Hôtel, the city's first tourist establishment inaugurated in 1884, reflects the growing appeal of the region.
To the west, the former college and high school, opened in 1884 as a higher primary school, now houses the Munster Valley Community of Communes as well as the School of Music and Dance. Near the central kiosk, the Kirschleger monument pays tribute to the famous Alsatian botanist born in Munster.
Finally, the war memorial, inaugurated in 1930, commemorates the civilian and military victims of the First World War, while a plaque added in 1953 honors those of the Second World War.
