Arboretum
The Hohwald Arboretum showcases exceptional trees. Notably, it features a snake-tail spruce, a rare sequoia identified in 1960, and a sequoia about 30 meters tall, certified by the National Forest Office as the tallest in Europe.
Among its curiosities is an experimental Douglas fir plantation established in 1885 by Mr. Rebmann, a former German forest ranger, using seeds brought from Canada. He selected land owned by the City of Strasbourg to plant this botanical experiment. Today, this plot hosts the Douglas fir known as the tallest in Europe.
