Badhus

This iconic building in Kaysersberg, once an inn and gourmet office, occupied a strategic central position near the fortified bridge.

It was then called the Hostellerie du Pont, as it was the essential place where the city's gourmet, a municipal official, guided wine buyers in their tasting. He acted as an intermediary between winegrowers and customers, as direct purchase from producers was not possible at the time.

Until 1872, the Hostellerie du Pont was a true hub for wine.

Later, the building changed function to house the municipal baths, which gave it its current name, Bad-Hus, meaning "the house of baths" in Alsatian. Today, the Badhus is a place dedicated to meetings and temporary exhibitions.
