Ballastière Pond
The Ballastière pond gets its name from Bischheim's railway history, as it was once a site for extracting ballast, the material used under railway sleepers. Today, this site lies on the edge of the town, within a protected natural area, a remnant of the flood meadows typical of the Ried—wetlands bordering wooded riverbanks.
This green setting invites relaxation, especially in summer, with various facilities: a beach for swimming and sunbathing, sports and leisure activities, barbecue areas, and a fitness trail. Ideal for convivial moments with family or friends, swimming is supervised during the summer season.
