Battle of Saint-Blaise-La-Roche/Plaine

At the Niargoutte farm, a commemorative plaque honors the soldiers who died for their country between 1914 and 1918. It recalls a major historical event: the battle on August 14, 1914, at Saint-Blaise-la-Roche/Plaine. On that day, a flag of the 132nd Pomeranian German regiment, assigned to the 2nd battalion of the 99th Lower Alsace reserve infantry regiment, was captured by the 1st battalion of foot hunters, commanded by Commander Tabouis. This flag was the first trophy won from the Germans during the First World War. A replica of this emblem is now displayed at the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan museum, while the original may be in Russia.
