Belvedere of the Col de Fréland

Built by the Germans during the First World War, the Belvedere of the Col de Fréland stands as a historical witness to that era.

Perched on a promontory, it overlooks the canton of Lapoutroie and the landscapes once torn by battles, notably those of Linge and Tête des Faux.

Its architecture, made of pink Vosges sandstone with robust and elegant lines, makes it a striking visual landmark in the local terrain. Today, this site combines memory and contemplation: from its platform, the view embraces a breathtaking panorama where valleys, forests, and ridges blend.

Photography enthusiasts will find an ideal setting to capture the wild beauty of the Vosges. A discreet but precise orientation table helps visitors identify the reliefs and iconic places stretching out below them.
