Bergholtz-Zell

Bergholtz-Zell is located at the heart of the Alsace wine route tourist itinerary, just 5 kilometers from Guebwiller and Soultzmatt. According to tradition, the village was founded around the year 700 by a small community of monks under the authority of Saint Pirmin, founder of the Murbach Abbey, whose influence marked the region at that time.

The commune is especially famous for its Oelberg calvary, a set of five oratories and chapels illustrating the Passion of Christ. Also not to be missed is a polychrome wooden reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, adding an artistic and spiritual touch to this iconic site.
