Bischwiller

Founded in the early 13th century as a simple hunting ground for the Bishop of Strasbourg, Bischwiller has transformed into a town with a varied and attractive heritage. Its streets and museums—dedicated to fine arts, local history, and the textile manufactories that earned it national fame—along with guided tours invite exploration. The town also offers a peaceful and green living environment, ideal for walking or cycling year-round, thanks to numerous marked trails crossing forests, the banks of the Moder River, and the Ried landscapes.

With the arrival of warmer weather, activities multiply: an outdoor Olympic swimming pool with a grassy beach, mountain biking trails, and a water sports base. Close to major urban centers like Haguenau and Strasbourg, easily accessible by train, and near Baden-Württemberg, Bischwiller stands out for its local vitality. Shops, a cultural center, a music school, a cinema, and excellent sports facilities enliven the town, while its many annual events—fairs, the Canoe Trophy, the Fifres Festival, and more—promise convivial moments for families. A getaway combining discovery and tranquility.
