Bischwiller Town Hall and Its Annex
Before becoming the current town hall, part of this long building once housed the "À la Rose" hotel-restaurant, dating back to the 18th century. Its annex, located at 1 rue du Château, was the Lion d'Or inn. Built in the 17th century and remodeled in the 19th century, this former inn has been the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Minstrels of Lower Alsace since 1686. This association, bringing together troubadour musicians and acrobats, moved its annual festival and oath, the Pfiffersdaa (literally "day of the fifes" in Alsatian), to the sovereign of Bischwiller here. Today, the annex still bears the name Lion d'Or and is referred to as the "Lion d'Or" annex.
