Bourbach-le-Bas

Nestled at the foot of Rossberg, in a valley where the Thur and Doller rivers flow, the Buchberg site is mentioned as early as 1439 in the archives of the Masevaux Abbey as a place of iron mining.

This mining heritage, rediscovered by the archaeology and mining caving group "Les Trolls," reveals intense activity. More than 120 workings, galleries, and shafts have been mapped, while 14 mines have been identified, totaling about one kilometer of underground galleries.
