Bourgeois Cemetery

The old bourgeois cemetery is located near the parish church, inside the former ramparts that once protected this neighborhood. Now disused, it is listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments due to its remarkable funerary heritage. It features many 19th-century graves, including wrought iron crosses and carved steles, which are witnesses to the funerary art of the time.

At the center of the cemetery stands an imposing monumental cross dated 1673. Its halo, made of iron rays once gilded, evokes the crown on Christ's head present on the former large cross of the Saint-Martin cemetery. This historical detail enhances the site's heritage interest.

After its listing in the Inventory, the old cemetery of Villé underwent redevelopment aimed at preserving and highlighting this historically rich site.
