Brotsch Tower

Perched at 530 meters above sea level, the Brotsch is the highest point in the immediate surroundings of Saverne. This protohistoric site, likely occupied since the Hallstatt period (8th-5th century BC), dominates the region with its ancient history and remarkable landscapes. At the summit stands an iconic tower, built by the Club Vosgien of Saverne under the presidency of Mr. Brachvogel. Inaugurated on May 30, 1897, to mark the club's 25th anniversary, this 18-meter-high structure features a crenellated platform accessible via a spiral staircase with 97 steps. From this height, the view encompasses an exceptional panorama: to the north, the castles of Grand and Petit Geroldseck, Haut-Barr and Lichtenberg, as well as the Grand Wintersberg; to the south, the Rocher de Dabo, Schneeberg, and Mont Sainte-Odile. Access is by a hiking trail from Saverne leading to the site, where shelters, benches, and tables allow visitors to eat or rest while fully enjoying the surroundings.
