Captain Anglade's Tomb and the Turcos' House

In the mid-19th century, this site houses the tomb of Captain Anglade of the Turcos corps, marked by an imposing neo-Gothic cast iron cross set on a yellow sandstone base. Nearby are the remains of the so-called Turcos hut, originally built as a simple vineyard guard cabin. It was here, on August 6, 1870, that hundreds of soldiers from the Turcos corps lost their lives in battle.
