Celtic Menhir of the Hardt

This menhir, actually a medieval boundary stone, stands on a small mound at the border of the communes of Altorf, Dorlisheim, and Molsheim. It is precisely located within the commune of Dorlisheim. On its east face, a hook-shaped engraving, symbol of the commune of Altorf, is visible, accompanied by the year 1781, which may correspond to a revision of communal boundaries at that time.

Dated to the Middle Ages but corresponding to an ancient funerary stele erected on a tumulus, this monument dates back to the Hallstatt period, around 500 years before our era.

It is the oldest preserved Celtic monument in the region, thus bearing witness to a particularly ancient historical and cultural heritage.
