Chapel Dedicated to the Virgin Mary
At the beginning of the 19th century, a family in Duttlenheim had several deaf and mute children, plunging the father into despair. He promised to build a chapel if he had a healthy child, and his wish was granted. In 1808, Mr. Lorentz Wunderlich constructed this chapel on one of his properties along the main road. To add even more value, he personally sourced the sandstone from the Vosges needed for its construction. An inscription on the garden gate lintel, "L.W 1838 M.W.", suggests the property was fenced in 1838 to better protect this small building. Today, this lintel has been moved and serves as a step to access the chapel. The current owners take care to preserve this oratory from the ravages of time. However, this chapel, located on private property, remains closed to visitors.
