Charles de Reinach Park
To the right of Hirtzbach Castle, Charles de Reinach designed an English garden in the 19th century where beeches, ashes, pines, and rarer trees mingle, including a pedunculate oak listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
The area feels fresh thanks to a stream and three ponds inhabited by swans and ducks, offering a peaceful and green atmosphere.
Open to the public, this estate houses several remarkable structures. To the left of the entrance is the last icehouse of Sundgau, once used to store ice cut from frozen ponds. Opposite the entrance, on Sainte-Hélène islet, a chalet serves as a woodshed. Further along, another chalet to the right of the path was used for drying planks, while a third, inspired by a model from the canton of Lucerne and located at the end of the path, was dedicated to storing hay.
