Château de la Tour - Hermitage Porch

This imposing villa in the Rebberg district of Mulhouse was built between 1866 and 1868 by Frédéric de Rutté, a Swiss architect based in the city, at the request of industrialist Alfred Koechlin Schwartz. The building, inspired by the French Renaissance style, is distinguished by its elegance and symmetry characteristic of that era.

In 1897, a group of citizens donated this residence to the City of Mulhouse. It then became a nursery, which still operates today. A notable architectural detail is the porter’s lodge, designed as a small entrance gatehouse, adding to the site's historic character.
