Château du Hohnack

Perched at an altitude of 940 meters, the Château du Hohnack overlooks the Munster and Kaysersberg valleys. Classified as a historic monument since 1905, this medieval building was constructed in the 11th century by the Counts of Eguisheim. In the 16th century, modifications were made to adapt it to artillery, reflecting its strategic role. Its name, derived from the German *Hohen Acker* ("high field"), refers to its elevated location. Today, visitors can still admire its imposing ramparts and keep, as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding Alsatian landscapes.
