Château Park in Schiltigheim
The Château Park is located on the site of a former medieval castle, demolished in 1676, from which it takes its name. Developed by the Strasbourg banker Valentin around his family villa, this romantic park charms visitors with its shaded paths and botanical diversity: more than 150 trees, spread across about thirty species, thrive here. It also offers a relaxing space in the heart of the city and a playground for children, making it a popular spot for the residents of Schiltigheim.
Adjacent to the park stands the Wenger-Valentin villa, built around 1882 for the banker and his wife. The plans were drawn up by Strasbourg architects Albert Brion and Gottfried Julius Berninger, partners from 1881 to 1894. This residence exemplifies the style of grand manor houses of the late 19th century. Acquired by the municipality of Schiltigheim in 1934, it has housed the Maison des Sociétés since 1976.
