Church of St John the Baptist
Perched outside the old fortifications of Soultzbach, this parish church embodies a rich architectural heritage. Its choir, built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, dates from 1514 and houses a late Gothic wall tabernacle supported by a statue of Saint Christopher surrounded by angels. The nave, rebuilt and enlarged in 1738, reflects a stylistic evolution towards classicism. The entire structure was renovated in 1832 and enriched in 1833 by the organ of Joseph Callinet, a maker from Rouffach. Finally, in 1898, a bell tower was added, completing its current silhouette. Surrounded by the communal cemetery, this place of worship has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1934.
