Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Built between 1748 and 1753 by the Tyrolean architect Jean-Michel Schnöller, this Alsatian church is distinguished by its curved facade, a rare Baroque feature in the region.

Its sacred architecture is directly inspired by German models of the time.

The nave, consisting of six bays, was enlarged in 1854, while the entire building had to be rebuilt in the 1950s after the destruction of World War II.

Its bulbous bell tower, characteristic of the popular Baroque style widespread across the Rhine and in some Savoyard churches, is an uncommon architectural element in Alsace, shared only with the Abbey of Ebersmunster.
