Cotonnière Park
On the site of the former spinning and weaving factory founded by Captain Dreyfus's father, later known as the "Cotonnière d’Alsace," now stands the Schoettlé industrial wasteland.
Starting in 2003, this historic site was redeveloped with the construction of the Cité Manifeste and the creation of a public park by the City.
This new green space, named Baradrackgàrta—a Alsatian term meaning "licorice stick garden"—is part of the revitalization of the surrounding working-class neighborhood. According to local tradition, the name refers to a practice by the factory managers who flavored the water given to workers with licorice to stimulate them during work.
