Cour de Lorraine School

Originally a noble courtyard dating back to the 13th century, this property changed hands in 1726 when it passed to the Thierry family, descendants of Huguenot refugees from Lorraine. In 1754, a painted canvas workshop was established there. The building, notable for its symmetrical facade adorned with sculptures, was purchased by the City in 1876. The city then converted it into a school to ease the pressure on existing educational institutions. Initially coeducational, the school welcomed both girls and boys. Gradually modernized, it became a girls-only school on the eve of World War I.
