Covered Calvary
This calvary bears the poignant story of Major Jean Foersch.
In 1805, during the Battle of Austerlitz, he vowed to rebuild the chapel in his native village if he survived the fight.
Unfortunately, he died during the tragic crossing of the Berezina in 1812.
The statue of Christ adorning this site is said to come from the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Inside or on the walls of the calvary, a mural depicts Jerusalem and Golgotha, thus recalling the holy sites of Christian tradition.
