Cube Man
Sébastien Haller, originally from Mulhouse, trained at the Le Quai art school, graduating in 1986.
He further honed his skills in cabinetmaking in 1998. For him, an artist must create works for public spaces that capture attention and encourage interaction with viewers. His sculptures mainly explore urban landscapes and human identity, featuring everyday scenes populated by individuals or groups. His artistic approach is eclectic and technical: he assembles objects to bring them to life and form a dynamic image where movement is central. Sébastien Haller regularly collaborates with companies and local authorities, which explains the presence of many of his creations in public spaces.
Among his monumental works is "Pile of Broken Men," completed in 2002.
Another piece, "The Passenger," commissioned by Sitram, adorns the entrance of the Soléa building. For the work installed on the Pupa building, he adopts a personal style marked by simple, clean, and light line drawing, reflecting a form of modesty.
Starting from a sketch born of his imagination, he lets the white of the background complete his drawing, thus inviting the viewer to actively participate in interpreting the work. Metal, a malleable material close to paper in its flexibility, is his preferred medium to precisely translate his ideas.
