Dachstein

Perched a few kilometers from Molsheim and about twenty kilometers west of Strasbourg, the village of Dachstein is set in a landscape rich in history. Located near the Bruche Canal, one of Alsace's most popular cycling routes, it offers convenient access to the vineyard bike path towards Molsheim. This fortified village, continuously inhabited since prehistoric times, was once an episcopal city. It preserves significant medieval relics, including the Bruche Gate, which was lowered by half in 1574 as indicated by an inscription on its outer face, giving it a remarkable uniqueness. At the heart of the village, the Saint Martin Church impresses with its 15th-century Gothic nave and its imposing Baroque high altar. To deepen the exploration of this heritage, a walking tour allows visitors to discover other historic buildings scattered throughout the village.
