Dahlenheim

Perched at the edge of the Wasselonne district, Dahlenheim is a peaceful Alsatian village of 815 inhabitants, sheltered from strong winds and heavy rains by the Scharrachberg hill. Its north-south and east-facing orientation provides generous sunlight, ideal for vine cultivation. The Engelberg locality produces a renowned grand cru, exported abroad, showcasing the expertise of local winemakers. These winemakers are located at the start of the wine route, enhancing the village's appeal to quality wine enthusiasts.

At the heart of Dahlenheim, the church draws attention. It houses a 16th-century statue of the Virgin and Child, classified as a Historic Monument. Inside, three statues of the Holy Helpers, entirely carved in wood, adorn one of the few altars of this type in the region. Opposite the church, an ancient fountain dating from 1563 is also classified.

Dahlenheim's wine reputation dates back to the 14th century, when nearby monasteries sourced wine here for religious ceremonies and daily use. Several noble families then succeeded each other to control the local harvests, highlighting the village's wine excellence.
