Dambach-Neunhoffen
Surrounded by imposing rocks and the remains of the Hohenfels, Schoeneck, and Wineck castles, Dambach stretches along the peaceful Schwarzbach valley, a lush valley that ends in a peat bog near Neunhoffen.
This authentic-looking village houses a Maginot Line casemate, fully restored to its original state. It offers a glimpse into the daily life of a fortress crew in 1940.
A discovery trail complements the visit by showcasing other Maginot Line fortifications in the area.
Adding a unique touch, Scottish Highland cattle, introduced by the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, welcome visitors at the village entrance.
