Dolphin Fountain

At the heart of Place d'Armes stands the Dolphin Fountain, formerly known as the Hospital Fountain.

Its central pedestal is adorned with dolphins from which water flows.

Originally, this fountain paid tribute to King Charles X, whose bust sat atop it.

After the July Revolution of 1830, the people of Haguenau, wishing to mark their break with the fallen monarch, replaced the bust with a simple basin and erased the royal dedication by carving flutes into the column's shaft.

By closely examining these grooves, it is still possible to discern traces of the letters that made up the erased inscription.
